Back in the day when Shintaro Ishihara was just a novelist, albeit a very successful one, he met Yukio Mishima, an even bigger literary name, for the first time, and told him that he was shorter than he had imagined. The 5-foot 3 Mishima was not pleased to hear that from the 5-11 Ishihara. It&#039;s tempting to think that this was one of the reasons behind Mishima&#039;s decision to take up body-building and kendo. And we all know where that led to.
