New high school textbooks that drop phrases linking China and Taiwan as one country have reached Taiwan’s classrooms, the publisher said on Monday.

“The U.S. government has filed a protest over Defense Minister Kyuma Fumio’s remarks last week criticizing President George W. Bush’s decision to invade Iraq … said the remarks could have a negative impact on the bilateral alliance.”

“Chinese military doctrine and numerous writings make it clear China does not believe space can or should be free of military capabilities,” said Arizona Senator John Kyl.
